As a transmasculine person, I understand the pressures trans people face today in the UK and around the world. The increasing obstacles to accessing gender-affirming care, the puberty blocker ban, the Supreme Court ruling on the Equality Act 2010 pushing us out of single-sex spaces and public life, the devastating and sudden cancellation surgeries by the Welsh Gender service, the endless waiting lists–all of it points towards the constant erosion of our rights, and the need for us to band together, to support ourselves and each other. My hope is that I can be a small part of that support, both locally in Exeter, UK, and online.

Trans people always been resilient and resourceful, but resilience comes at great cost, and they–we–need all the support we can get. That’s why I think therapy for trans people offered by trans people is important; there is a level of understanding that comes with shared lived experience that can create connection and safety, both elements of a strong therapeutic alliance. I have experience with the healthcare system and what it takes to transition in the UK, am familiar with gender-affirming care and supporting organisations, and understand what it means to navigate the world as a trans person. It doesn’t mean your experience will be identical to mine, but it does mean that I may have resources to offer you, that I can more easily step into your shoes, and that you will never have to justify your existence or defend your identity to me. We will already start from some common ground on which we can build our relationship.

I offer face-to-face therapy in Exeter, Devon, and online across the UK as well as internationally, both for trans people and for families & allies.
